A rather slow development process followed (4 years between version 3 and version 4) until sudden acceleration in 2001 with the release of new versions every 2 years. Following its success, After Effects was resold to Aldus Corporation which sold it to Adobe. It was an immediate success thanks to its advantages (cheaper price, variable resolution, etc.). In January 1993, they presented the fruits of their labor (which later on became known as After Effects) as a part of Boston’s MacWorld. It was at the end of 1980’s that Dave Herbstman, Dave Simmons and Dan Wilk, founders of the CoSA (Company of Science and Art) began developing Egg, an animation software for cinema and television. Therefore it’s ideal for creating video animations and special effects. Edited by Adobe, After Effects is a software dedicated to video compositing and Motion Design.
